EDI vs DEI
The difference between EDI and DEI and the work of equity, diversity and inclusion?
People often ask, what's the difference? Why does it matter whether we put the D first or the E first? For myself, I always put "E" in equity first because we are working towards equitable outcomes.
You can have diverse organizations, but if you're not being strategic around changing the organizations andstructures that maintain oppression, then it's not making a change highlighting that you are working towards making the change towards equitable outcomes for the people who you are supposed boarding. So what are the actions that are making a difference for the people who are receiving your supports and services?
Where is your group/organization at? The diversity stage? The inclusion stage or the equitable outcomes stage? Let’s work to make real change so that everyone we support has a chance to reach the same goal.
